Doohan’s Move to Alpine Academy

Since the start of its 2022 campaign, Jack Doohan has been a part of the Alpine Academy after switching from the Red Bull Junior Team. The 19 year-old son of Australia’s former 500cc legend, Mick Doohan, made giant strides in 2022, making his F1 practice session debut in Mexico City, before a second run at Abu Dhabi in the season closer. He also took part in extensive postseason testing in Abu Dhabi.

The 13 round F2 season starts at the F1 season opener at Sakhir, Bahrain on March 3-5 and will see Doohan face off against one of his rivals from Alpine Academy; Victor Martins.

Victor Martins is racing with ART Grand Prix who won four races last season. If Alpine do go with a more experienced stop-gap reserve driver this year then 2023 could be seen as a race-off for the reserve seat in 2024. Doohan is currently well placed heading into his second full F2 season.

Doohan’s Performance Last Season

In his first full Formula 2 Championship last season Jack Dooham finished sixth place while picking up two wins. However he endured plenty of hard luck with a string of ill-timed DNF’s during the run home.
