The doors to Formula 1 seem to be closing for Mick Schumacher. With the recent extensions of Alfa Romeo’s drivers, the available spots are becoming increasingly rare. Schumacher has not participated in a Grand Prix since Abu Dhabi 2022 and the likelihood of seeing him in 2024 appears slim. Only three seats are available for the upcoming F1 season, two with AlphaTauri and the last one with Williams.
Difficulties with AlphaTauri’s shortlist leave Williams as a potential option, but for now, Schumacher’s name has not appeared in any rumors or discussions with the team’s bosses. Supported by Mercedes, since he is their test driver, the German team could lend a significant hand to Schumacher. Especially since Toto Wolff, the team’s boss, believes that the young German deserves a seat.
Given that his future in Formula 1 is uncertain, where could Schumacher go? According to reports from Auto Motor und Sport and Canal+ commentator Julien Febreau, the son of Michael Schumacher is getting closer to joining Alpine’s Hypercar program.

Alpine recently tested their A424β at the Castellet with the current number 36 car’s drivers (Nicolas Lapierre, Matthieu Vaxiviere, and Charles Milesi). The trio seems to be the most logical choice to be confirmed by the brand for next year. However, there is a second available car, and Schumacher could be part of the second team. So far, Alpine has not officially announced anything.
