Idec Sport Sets the Pace in FP2 for 4 Hours of Le Castellet

The second free practice session for the 4 Hours of Le Castellet has concluded, and the IDEC Sport Oreca emerged as the fastest car among the 42 entries for Round 2 of the 2023 European Le Mans Series. The team’s lap time of 1m44.279 was just 0.031 seconds ahead of the no22 United Autosports USA Oreca. However, both of them were 1.249 seconds slower than the fastest time set in FP1 yesterday.

LMP2 Pro/Am Category

In the LMP2 Pro/Am category, the no19 Team Virage Oreca set the fastest time, with a lap of 1m45.004 in 7th overall and 0.5 seconds ahead of the no34 Racing Team Turkey Oreca in 8th overall. Meanwhile, the no65 Panis Racing Oreca was third fastest in FP2, 0.092 seconds behind IDEC Sport and two-tenths ahead of the fastest car in FP1, the no47 COOL Racing Oreca.

The qualifying session for the 4 Hours of Le Castellet will commence at 14:30 with the LMGTE category.

LMP3 Category

The no10 Eurointernational Ligier emerged as the fastest car in the LMP3 category, with a lap time of 1m51.310, eight-tenths quicker than the second fastest car, the no15 RLR MSport Ligier. The no8 Team Virage and no7 Nielsen Racing Ligiers were the third and fourth fastest respectively.

The Porsche teams also had a good performance in FP2, with 911s filling the top three positions at the end of the 90-minute session. The no16 Proton Competition Porsche was the fastest among the 12-car entry, with a lap of 1m54.650, 0.043 seconds ahead of the no60 Iron Lynx 911 RSR-19. The no77 Proton Competition Porsche was third fastest with a lap of 1m54.714, 0.006 seconds ahead of the no50 Formula Racing Ferrari.

It was another good performance by the Porsche teams in FP2, with 911s filling the top three positions at the end of the 90-minute session.

The no16 Proton Competition Porsche was the fastest of the 12-car entry, with a 1m54.650 lap, 0.043s ahead of the no60 Iron Lynx 911 RSR-19. The no77 Proton Competition Porsche was third fastest with a lap of 1m54.714, 0.006s ahead of the no50 Formula Racing Ferrari.
