The second Free Practice session of the 4 Hours of Imola weekend concluded with Algarve Pro Racing leading the way once again. Under blue skies and warm temperatures, the 42 cars took to the track for their final practice before qualifying. The session, however, was cut short when a car went off at Turn 5 and couldn’t be extracted from the gravel in time to resume the session.

After setting the best time in FP1, the no47 Algarve Pro Racing Oreca continued its dominance by setting the fastest time in FP2. Alexander Peroni set a blistering lap time of 1m33.046, just 0.079s ahead of reigning champion Yifei Ye in the no37 Cool Racing Oreca-Gibson.

The top five cars were separated by less than two tenths, setting up an exciting battle for pole position later in the day. The no34 Racing Team Turkey Oreca, driven by Jack Aitken, secured the third spot with a lap time of 1m33.203, followed closely by the no9 Prema Racing Oreca of Louis Deletraz and the no31 TDS Racing X Vaillante Oreca of Mathias Beche.

LMP3 and LMGTE Categories Show Strong Performances

In the LMP3 category, the no15 RLR M Sport Ligier set the fastest lap of the weekend so far, with Valentino Catalano behind the wheel. Catalano posted a lap time of 1m38.488, just 0.066s ahead of the no13 Inter Europol Competition Ligier driven by Guilherme Oliveira. Noam Abramczyk in the no14 Ligier finished the session in third place.

The no95 Oman Racing with TF Sport Aston Martin Vantage showcased its speed in the LMGTE category. Jonny Adam set a lap time of 1m41.206, the fastest in the class and the best of the weekend so far. Adam finished 0.184s ahead of the no18 Absolute Racing Porsche, with Alessio Picariello setting the second-best time of 1m41.390s. The no57 Kessel Racing Ferrari, driven by Mikkel Jensen, secured the third spot in the LMGTE category, 0.212s behind the leading Aston Martin.

Qualifying for the 4 Hours of Imola will begin at 14h05 CEST, with LMGTE, LMP3, and LMP2 each having a 10-minute session. Fans can catch the qualifying session live on the ELMS website.
