United Autosports dominates test sessions at Spa-Francorchamps

United Autosports topped both collective test sessions at Spa-Francorchamps ahead of the ELMS meeting. Nelson Piquet Jr set the fastest time in the morning session with a time of 2:05.923, while Oliver Jarvis was fastest in the afternoon session with a time of 2:06.080. The team showed strong performance and will be looking to carry this momentum into the upcoming race weekend.

Josh Pierson, Nicolas Varrone, and Antoine Doquin selected for WEC Rookie Test

The FIA has announced the three drivers who will participate in the WEC Rookie Test in Bahrain on November 5. Josh Pierson, Nicolas Varrone, and Antoine Doquin will each have the opportunity to test a different car category – Hypercar, LMP2, and GTE-Am, respectively. The Rookie Test is seen as a valuable opportunity for young talents, and the selected drivers have been recognized for their exemplary performances throughout the 2023 WEC and ELMS seasons.

Kyffin Simpson ready for IndyCar move

Algarve Pro Racing LMP2 driver Kyffin Simpson has been confirmed as a full-time IndyCar driver for 2024 with Ganassi Racing. Simpson expressed his excitement about the opportunity and stated that he is ready to make the big step from Indy NXT to the IndyCar Series. While he plans to continue in sportscar racing, his schedule with Ganassi will determine if he can participate in events such as the Daytona Rolex 24 Hours next year. Simpson still has three more ELMS races and the IMSA finale at Road Atlanta left in 2023, where he is currently fighting for the LMP2 Drivers’ Championship.

Championship titles still up for grabs in the ELMS

The second half of the 2023 ELMS season kicks off with the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, where several teams are vying for championship titles. In the LMP2 class, Duqueine Team currently leads the charge, followed closely by Algarve Pro Racing and IDEC SPORT Racing. United Autosports USA, winners of four of the last five runnings of the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, are in fourth place. AF Corse and Racing Team Turkey are locked in a duel for the LMP2 Pro/Am title, while COOL Racing holds a comfortable lead in the LMP3 class. Proton Competition and Kessel Racing are fighting for the top spot in the LMGTE class, with only two points separating them.
