- A NEW DATE for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix announced ?

The region of Emilia-Romagna has been hit by severe floods and due to this, F1 had to cancel the race weekend at Imola.

Rumors earlier suggested that the race could be postponed to August, but it appears that such a modification wouldn’t be feasible.

A new plan has been devised to sort the issue.

The most probable solution is to postpone the 2023 Imola Grand Prix to 2026, one year after the race contract between F1 and Imola ends.

The president of the Automobile Club d’Italia, Angelo Sticchi Damiani stated that the Grand Prix will be restored in 2026 after the contract is renewed. He seemed quite sure of it with his 99% chances, mentioned in an interview with TuttoSport.

Stefano Domenicali, CEO of F1, who was born in Imola, also commented on the cancellation of the race.

He conveyed his gratitude and admiration for the incredible emergency services working tirelessly, helping those in need and improving the situation.

Domenicali said that the decision taken for the cancellation was apt for all the local communities and the F1 family as their safety was paramount and not to create any additional burden for the authorities while they deal with the disastrous situation in the aftermath of the floods.

This is a momentous decision that affects the fate of Imola Grand Prix and its fans.

As for now, all we can do is wait and prepare ourselves for the future and hope that the decision turns out to be the best for everyone.
